Office of Park Planning

As one of the five bureaus/offices comprising the Division of Recreation and Parks (DRP), the Office of Park Planning provides a wide range of technical support and professional services beneficial to management of the Florida Park Service. Specific activities include:

• Evaluation and recommendation of lands for acquisition and inclusion in Florida's state park system.
• Administration of lands under the management jurisdiction of DRP and processing of requests for use of DRP managed land.
• Coordination of the development and review of state park unit management plans and conceptual land use plans.
• Coordination of land use planning activities throughout the state park system.
• Development and maintenance of the Florida State Parks Statewide Recreational Facility Inventory and Report.

STATE PARK PLANNING	LAND ACQUISITION AND ADMINISTRATION
Image The mission of the Florida Park Service is to provide resource-based outdoor recreation while preserving, interpreting, and restoring natural and cultural resources.	Image The provision of needed resources for public outdoor recreation in the state park system depends on the identification, evaluation and establishment of priority projects for the land acquisition program.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Image In addition to public hearings, advisory group meetings are held with local stakeholders and other land management agencies who are asked to complete a thorough review of the draft management plan and make recommendations.
