The Disaster Preparedness Program (DPP) along with the Coastal Response Research Center (CRRC) at the University of New Hampshire had planned to have an in-person, three-day NOS Hurricane Summit in late-April ahead of the 2020 hurricane season. Rather than canceling completely or postponing to mid-or late summer, the steering committee decided that since the hurricane season could not be cancelled or postponed, we must still prepare. The revised vision is for three separate half-day video conferences to socialize and develop a common understanding of the COVID-19 and 2020 hurricane season threat. This second webinar will focus on best practices and risk management as NOAA and its partners prepare for the upcoming hurricane season. In this upcoming Hurricane Summit we seek to understand (1) the challenges and limitations that you face for facilities/infrastructure, people, and resources as we enter into the 2020 Hurricane Season and (2) the best practices you can share for mitigating risk to NOAA and NOAA partner facilities, people, and resources from hurricanes given the persistence of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
