DEP's Comprehensive Statewide Flood Vulnerability and Sea Level Rise Data Set Final Report, developed in accordance with Section 380.093(4), Florida Statutes (F.S.), is now available. In developing the data set, DEP compiled, analyzed and incorporated publicly available data, and information from federal, state and local governments related to critical assets, including data from vulnerability assessments submitted to the Department by local communities.

The data set will be used to complete a Statewide Flood Vulnerability and Sea Level Rise Assessment that identifies inland and coastal infrastructure, geographic areas and communities in Florida most vulnerable to flooding and sea level rise and the associated risks. A link to the GIS data is in included in the report. DEP is currently developing additional tools to enhance accessibility to the data set. Updates will continue to be posted to the webpage. Please contact Resilience@FloridaDEP.gov with any additional questions.

Comprehensive Statewide Flood Vulnerability and Sea Level Rise Data Set

The statewide data set includes information necessary to determine the risks to inland and coastal communities. DEP’s Chief Science Officer, Dr. Mark Rains, worked in coordination with necessary experts, including the Florida Flood Hub for Applied Research and Innovation, and resources to develop statewide sea level rise projections that incorporate temporal and spatial variability, to the extent practicable, for inclusion in the data set. A GIS Map Viewer of the data set can be found here.

This data set inventory contains information pertaining to, but not limited to, critical and regionally significant assets (such as transportation, critical infrastructure and emergency facilities), topographical data (including digital elevation models and survey data), and flood scenario data (including data regarding precipitation, sea level rise, land use and groundwater elevation).

Comprehensive Statewide Flood Vulnerability and Sea Level Rise Assessment (Modeling and Predicting Vulnerable Areas)

As detailed in Florida Statute 380.093, the department has also been tasked to develop a statewide flood vulnerability and sea level rise assessment by July 1, 2024. The statewide data set will be used to complete a Statewide Flood Vulnerability and Sea Level Rise Assessment that identifies inland and coastal infrastructure, geographic areas and communities in Florida most vulnerable to flooding and sea level rise and the associated risks.

This assessment will be developed in coordination with the Florida Flood Hub for Applied Research and Innovation and DEP’s Chief Science Officer, Dr. Mark Rains; it will identify inland and coastal infrastructure, geographic areas, and communities in the state vulnerable to flooding and sea level rise and the associated risks.
