The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Drinking Water and Aquifer Protection Program announces an open house public meeting to which all persons are invited.

During this public meeting, representatives of both DEP and the applicant (FPL) will be available to answer questions and provide information about the draft Underground Injection Control Class I construction and operational testing permit for the FPL Turkey Point Clean Energy Center injection wells (File No. 039089-001-002-UC/1I, WACS Facility ID: 106814), located at 9760 SW 344 Street, Florida City, in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

This draft permit would authorize the construction and operational testing of two non-hazardous Class I injection wells (DIW-2 and DIW-3) for the disposal of industrial wastewater associated with the FPL Clean Turkey Point power generation Unit 5. This draft permit has been noticed following an extensive review of plans by DEP, including engineering and geology professionals.

DATE AND TIME: Jan. 11, 2022, 4–7 p.m. (EST).

PLACE: Courtyard Marriott, 2905 NE 9th Street, Homestead, Florida.

PURPOSE: To receive public comments on the above referenced draft UIC permit for the FPL Turkey Point site. Rule 62-528.325, F.A.C., provides an opportunity for DEP to hold a public meeting whenever a significant degree of public interest is expressed in a UIC permit. DEP gave notice of the draft wastewater permit to FPL on Nov. 19, 2021, and a Notice of Draft Permit was published in the Miami Herald on Dec. 3, 2021.
