Apalachicola Reserve Hosts Seagrass Ecology Class

The Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve will offer a Seagrass Exploration Class Friday, July 21st. Be prepared to get wet! Before spending time in the classroom, participants will immerse themselves in the vibrant seagrass ecosystem with a guided snorkeling tour of the crystal-clear seagrass beds in St. Joseph Bay. Then, participants will hear a discussion led by experienced marine biology experts exploring seagrass conservation, and get involved with some hands-on activities and group investigation. This adult-level class covers the basics of life in a seagrass bed, as well as the intricate ties between organisms, and important conservation and protection efforts in our area. The Seagrass Ecology Class will be offered on Friday, July 21st, 2017, from 11:00am-3:00pm EST. Class fee is $25 per person, registration is required, please visit https://anerrseagrass.eventbrite.com to register. Attendees are responsible for bringing their own snorkeling gear, snack, water bottle, and change of clothes.
