Florida Wetland Plants: An Identification Manual

This manual is the collaborative effort of 15 botanists from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and other organizations around the state. This publication was made possible by a grant to DEP from the Florida Legislature, with additional funding provided by UF/IFAS. The beauty and diversity of Florida's wetlands are revealed in 588 pages with over 800 color photographs and over 1,000 illustrations, treating over 1,000 plant species that are important in the identification of wetlands in Florida.

This book is color coded into four sections, with 18 pages of ferns, seven pages of gymnosperms (pines), 191 pages of monocotyledons and 363 pages of dicotyledons. Alphabetical arrangement of each section by family and genus along with a glossary of scientific and common names allow easy location of genera. The manual provides descriptions of plants, their habitats and associated plant communities along with their ecological responses within Florida. A distribution map and a vegetative index are also included as is field identification between commonly confused plants. This book is comprehensive enough for the taxonomic needs of field botanists yet with its many beautiful photographs and detailed line drawings is appropriate for amateur plants enthusiasts. This book will become a treasured resource in your library for exploring Florida's rich and unique wetland flora. Please note: Hardcopies of the manual are currently not available.
